Who We Are
OPEN is an all-volunteer group of professional evaluators and people working in evaluation, as well as people who don’t consider themselves evaluators but use evaluation methods and findings in their work. The organization includes people from a variety of sectors including health, education, human services, environmental sciences and many other fields across the Pacific Northwest. We serve members and others in our community, those who are brand new to the field who utilize methods of evaluation, as well as people who have been using evaluative techniques and approaches for decades.
Who is OPEN for?
Everyone! OPEN is a dynamic organization driven by individuals, groups, and organizations looking to expand their professional network, broaden their skill set, and learn brand new skills and techniques around evaluation methodologies and approaches. We offer affordable technical and methodological training for people at all stages in their careers and skill levels. We welcome members as well as non-OPEN members to events, with the goals of expanding and diversifying the evaluation capacity in the region. OPEN seeks to engage individuals from a wide array of experiences, disciplines, and backgrounds in order to foster and support a learning community of inquisitive and supportive colleagues. We have OPEN members who joined the Leadership Council the same day they joined the organization, and we also have longtime members who have never been on Council. The group is as diverse as its members and those who attend events. All are welcome!
What We Do
OPEN is focused on hosting events, workshops, and learning series that provide both members and the larger community with opportunities to expand their capacity in the field of evaluation. We encourage collaboration and support among members and non-members alike! OPEN is also working toward providing more online and alternative-media resources for the same purpose. Below we’ve outlined some of the kinds of events we facilitate. We encourage members and others in the community to let us know what kinds of learning they would like to engage in, and we are happy to make events surrounding those ideas happen!
