August 19 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Many members of OPEN are independent consultants, working on their own and in collaboration with small groups of colleagues. While life as an independent consultant has many benefits, it also comes with unique challenges, ranging from business planning to paying the right taxes to finding well-qualified collaborators.

Taking inspiration from the American Evaluation Association’s Independent Consultants Topical Interest Group (TIG), we’re launching an independent consultants’ practice share in Oregon! Our goal is to form a community of colleagues who share useful practices and tools and who give and seek advice on challenges. We plan to meet occasionally in person and virtually roughly once per quarter, depending on members’ interest and availability.

The kick-off session in August will focus on identifying a common set of learning interests among OPEN’s independent consultant members, and in finding colleagues willing to lead a future virtual learning session focused on those interests. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet like-minded consultants through a lightly-structured networking activity, as well.

OPEN will be providing refreshments and snacks.
