We invite you to our fourth and final virtual event in OPEN's DEIJ Learning Series: Centering Racial Equity in Evaluation. The final session will focus on the third practice guide in the Kellogg series, how to “Deepen Community Engagement” in our evaluation in service of racial equity.
We hear the term community engagement frequently, and this guide digs into what meaningful community engagement looks like in practice. We will discuss how to define “community” and operationalize engagement in ways that will shape our evaluation activities and our practice.
In this hour-long gathering, hosts will provide a brief overview of the practice guide. Then attendees will break into small groups to discuss the guide, using reflection questions and material in the practice guide to lead the conversation. Then conclude with all attendees returning to the full group to share one key takeaway from our focused discussion.
A week before the event, the third practice guide and a summary handout to prepare for the discussion will be emailed to registrants. This is not homework but an offering to become familiar with the material since we don’t have much time together. We will also keep the virtual space open until 1:15 in case people want to chat a bit longer!
Centering Racial Equity in Evaluation: The DEIJ Learning Series
OPEN is hosting a series of practice-oriented conversations with evaluators, evaluation users and funders of evaluations. We will ask ourselves and each other how we are advancing racial equity in our everyday evaluation approaches and practices. Using the W.K. Kellogg Foundation series “Doing Evaluation in Service of Racial Equity” as our practice guide, we will investigate our ideas, beliefs, organizations, and systems. Join us every other month to build a supportive and honest learning community in our region.
OPEN is a registered 501(c)6 organization.
